ALABASTER SUNS CD RELEASE

The s/t CD by London's mighty ALABASTER SUNS will be available from tomorrow from the band (see dates below) and from the Iron Pig website.

ALABASTER SUNS is the new band rising from the ashes of the much celebrated CAPRICORNS (Rise Above records). The band features K A Williams on guitar and vocals and Nathan Perrier on drums with new blood DL on bass. After playing numerous shows, this is the bands first recording, with John Hannon at the controls (NO RECORDING studio).

The album opens at a furious pace with 'Iron Gang', brutal and heavy, it bears comparison with elements of VOIVOD, PRONG and similarly progressive brutal acts of the mid 80s, though with a Dischord edge, perhaps bringing to mind bands such as SWIZ and CIRCUS LUPUS. The band's complex time signatures, and atypical riffs create a true sound all their own though, as they seamlessly blend staggeringly heavy freight-train bludgeon with more mellow breakdowns. Indeed penultimate track 'Alabaster Suns' is a remarkably gentle piece, which makes very effective use of a perfectly selected guitar tone: being veterans of the hardcore scene, ALABASTER SUNS are perfectly clear about what they want to achieve and they know their equipment. 'The World Got Lighter' closes the proceedings with nearly eight minutes mixing mid-paced groove and ferocious rocking.

With their past pedigree and the sheer quality on offer with this debut album its certain that ALABASTER SUNS will get the attention they deserve.

POTOP tour

POTOP will be on tour late August, go see them. The debut CD, entitled "Channels" will be available from the band at the shows and from Iron Pig direct. It will then be available through Southern records in good shops worldwide. Five blistering tracks of negative vibes, tranquilised dirges and anguish. The slow parts of power violence greats of old colliding with the sheer evil of Burning Witch. We will also have a shirt for sale soon.

In other news, the band are confirmed to play Bloodstock on Sunday 17th August and will support Turisas at the Camden Barfly on Wednesday 20th August as part of the Kerrang! Awards week of shows. How about them apples?

Welcome to IRON PIG RECORDS. The aim here is to put out some nasty music from time to time, some underground, some buried beneath the underground. We're also aiming to keep things simple - no 4LP boxsets with locks of human hair, ltd. edition training shoes or collectors toys - and hopefully keep things cheap.

Distribution has been agreed with the fine folks at SOUTHERN RECORDS so you should be able to pick up our stuff in good shops and distros all over Europe once the supply chain is up and running.

First release: RAVENS CREED "Militia of Blood Sacrifice" CD

From the unholy hell pits of Nottingham, England, the mighty RAVENS CREED are unleashed upon the world. With ex members of IRON MONKEY, CEREBRAL FIX, SKYCLAD, and GBH with ORANGE GOBLIN vocalist Ben Ward at centre stage, RAVENS CREED are the audio equivalent of having your face smashed in with a bag of rusty hammers. Total thrash holocaust with tunes that stick in your head like nails, the four tracks are all masterpieces of filthy dirty thrashing metal. Buy or die!

Next up from IRON PIG is the debut CD from Macedonian hardcore band POTOP. Slow, brutal, heavy and twisted, the CD will compile their vile vinyl releases so far, including the forthcoming split with BURMESE. "Negative guitars, tectonic grooves and sadistic vocals. bad music for bad people." Expect Power Violence without the fast bits, combined with the torture of BURNING WITCH. Yeah, pretty heavy... This release is planned for August to coincide with the European tour of POTOP and AGENTS OF ABHORRENCE.
